Teddy Freeman Obituary

Teddy “Ted” Milton Freeman May 26, 1926-November 17, 2022, Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Teddy “Ted” Freeman went to meet his Lord November 17 at the age of 96 with his family by his side. Ted was born in Salinas, California May 26, 1926, to parents Joseph Merritt and Anna Lolita (Willis) Freeman. Ted’s folks homestead in Grandview, Oregon. Ted and his siblings lived there until the Depression. They then lived briefly in Redmond then moved to Culver where Ted spent most of his youth. He graduated from Redmond High School in 1945 as the Culver High School teacher was drafted and there was no one to teach. With his father’s permission, Ted then joined the Navy and spent most of WWll in the Pacific. After the war Ted finished high school then worked for Pacific Supply Co-op where he met his wife Muriel “Rusty” Janiece Haworth. Ted and Rusty were married in 1953 and resided in Madras where they raised seven children: Lola, Joe, Laura, Linda, Leanna, Jeff and Leslie. After Rusty passed away in 2001 Ted married EvaDean Taylor Bennett in 2005. They moved from Madras to Redmond where he resided until his death. Ted and EvaDean enjoyed travelling to the coast, taking drives and hunting for bargains at yard sales. Even before there were dams on the rivers, Ted and his brother Willis spent their childhood fishing the Deschutes. There was nothing more in this world that Ted loved to do than fish. His favorite river was the Deschutes, but he enjoyed any body of water that allowed him to participate in his favorite pastime. Right up there with fishing was woodworking. He often went out with his brother Willis to “hunt” juniper trees; the best were “4-points”. They loved to turn the wood to see the pattern and design within. We are all blessed with several pieces of his work. He passed this love down to his children and grandchildren. Dad was a man with a big heart and quick wit. He loved his family, and he will be forever in our hearts! We will miss you, Dad! He is survived by his wife EvaDean, children Lola Hagman, Laura (Herb) Kliemann, Linda (Markham) Pesl, Leanna (James) Freeman-Whitaker, Jeff Freeman, Leslie (Scott) Schauer, Carolyn Taylor, Michael (April) Taylor and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Merritt Anna Lolita (Willis) and siblings, Lolita Micucci, Willis Freeman, Meredith (Perk) Freeman, Kathryn Brown, and Marjean Whitehouse his first wife Rusty, and his oldest son Joseph Merle Freeman A memorial service will be held Friday, November 25 at 2:00 pm at Highland Baptist Church in Redmond, Oregon.
