Steven Stoltz Obituary

Steve Stoltz, passed away at his home in Culver, Oregon, on April 8, 2024. He was born on July 13, 1945, in Sterling, Colorado. He left this world as he wanted; at his home, where he was most happy, with his dogs, Rose and Goofy, and his herd of sheep and goats.

Steve served our country as an Army Combat Medic in the Vietnam War and then settled in Central Oregon, where he has been part of the community for over 40 years. He was known for his tireless work, generosity, and dedication to helping others. As an animal farmer, Steve tended to his land and livestock with care and dedication, he embodied the spirit of hard work and resilience. He found great joy in his role as a 4-H Leader, mentoring countless young individuals and instilling in them a love for animals and community involvement. A true woodsman at heart, Steve spent much of his life in the beauty of Central Oregon's forests, supplying firewood to homes throughout the area. Steve believed in the importance of hands-on learning, he would guide you through how-to do things, so that the next time you could do it independently. As a kid that could be challenging and frustrating, but as an adult the lessons learned are appreciated and will be passed on to the next generation.

Steve's impact extended far beyond his immediate family. With four children (Frank, Vicki, Melinda, and Amber), and numerous other individuals he took under his wing, Steve's home was always open to those in need. His generosity and his legacy of care and support will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He was stubborn and could hold a grudge, but will be remembered fondly for being a loyal, hardworking man who loved fiercely, was the King of card games, lover of Pepsi, Snickers, and peanuts, and was giving of his time and always lent a helping hand. Steve Stoltz is survived by his children, grandchildren, and a host of cherished friends and relatives.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your local 4-H program in honor of Steve's passion for youth development and agricultural education.

A Military Honor Presentation and a Celebration of Life will be held on May 19, 2024 from 1 - 3 PM at the Art Horsell Deschutes VFW Hall in Redmond (491 SW Veterans Way). Friends and Family are welcome to attend.
