Roger D. Johnson, 73, passed away on March 22, at his home in Madras, Oregon. Born in Redmond, son of LuLu Lyla Frye Johnson of the Karuk tribe out of Happy Camp, California and William (Bill) Mildred Johnson of California who preceded him in death as well as a younger sister, Nadine Johnson; and three older brothers Allen, Donald and Jimmie Fred Johnson. Roger was known for his fun and ornery antic. He was always happiest with a tool in his hand and grease on his coveralls or visits from his children, grandchildren and many adored nieces and nephews. Roger loved his children and grandchildren. He was always supportive and was an amazing, wonderful father, brother, grandpa, uncle, cousin and great grandpa. He loved his whole family without reserve. Roger was incredibly generous to any and all who needed a little help and never asked for anything in return. He was well known for his playfulness and humor, mechanical skills and infinite patience; not to mention his real love for Pepsi and Oreos and milk. Roger worked for many years as a heavy equipment mechanic for Jefferson County Public Works, as well as working at his sisters Pennzoil shop in Madras. His hobbies included restoring his old El Camino and classic Ford pickup truck. He loved fishing, swimming and most sports; especially football and basketball. Roger also participated in auto racing while in California. He was loved by so many and will be incredibly missed. He is survived by four siblings, Linda Hastings of Madras, OR, Aaron Johnson of Bend, OR, Frances Millard of Madras, OR, Willie Kuchera of Canada; his four children, Kimberly Burgess of Madras, Jamie Reimer of Newport, Washington, Byron Johnson of Seaside, OR, and Donovan Johnson of Culver, OR; as well as eleven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a world of family and friends.
Rogers children will be hosting a viewing Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Bel-Air Colonial funeral home located at 762 NE 10th St, Madras, OR for all who wish to pay a visit. A memorial and graveside will be announced at a later date.
