In the early morning hours of January 9th Raymond “Lee” Henderson age 89 years old, died peacefully at home with his loving wife of 71 years, Shirley, and other family members close by. Lee was born on October 7th, 1936 in Upland, CA where he worked closely with his family as a citrus grower. Lee and Shirley made Culver, OR their home in 1979 where Lee's career at Round Butte Seed spanned decades.
Lee’s greatest pride in life was his family, whom he worked hard for and fiercely loved and supported. To his family, Lee was a man of strength and loyalty and one who's memory will live on in all who knew him. His dedication to the people he loved was unprecedented. Lee is preceded in death by his parents Raymond & Ruth Henderson, his brothers Dick & Roger, a sister Delores and two children, Derek and Mandy. Lee is survived by his lifelong sweetheart, Shirley, as well as six of their children; Greg, Mike, Robin, Ray, Melissa and Dave and his sister Rebecca Watford of Pismo Beach, CA. All of Lee’s fifteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren will hear stories of their mischievous patriarch for many years to come.
Aside from his lifelong devotion to his wife Shirley, Lee will be remembered not only for his stature of size, but his stature of heart. His deep laugh and great, big hugs were legendary, his storytelling- unforgettable. Lee’s love of long drives and teaching his family all the ways of gardening, nature, and the outdoors will be fondly remembered as well as his passion for teasing his family and friends with a twinkle in his eye. He will be deeply missed and remembered often.
