Maybelle Bowers Obituary

Maybelle (June) Bowers passed away peacefully the morning of February 26, 2020 in Madras Oregon to be with the Lord after a long life on this side of heaven.  June was born on December 4, 1928 in Grainton, Nebraska to parents Lester and Zelma Spencer in a small farming community.

Her family headed west, stopping in Wyoming, then to Stanfield, Oregon, then on to the Willamette Valley before finally residing in Culver, Oregon. June attended several schools, but she graduated from Madras High School.  Her first job was clerk at the Courthouse in Jefferson County.  She met her future husband, Harold Bower, on a sunny day while riding by her house on horseback.  They eloped to be married on April 2, 1949.  They had two beautiful daughters, Wendy Smith and Patricia Kraus.  June loved working with her hands, tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, sewing clothing for  herself and her daughters and a good game of baseball!

June is survived by her brother and wife Bernard and Vonnie Spencer; Daughter and husband Wendy & Garry Smith; Daughter & husband Patty & Don Kraus, Grandchildren Amy Hatcher, Shaun Kraus, and Stacey Bailey; great-grandchildren: Tryston, Brynn, Tyton, Trypp & Blyss Kraus, Bristol and Lane Bailey and Nathan Hatcher and her many nieces and nephews.
