Jose “Luis” Sosa
Luis was born on September 20, 1951 in San Bernardo, Durango Mexico to Consolacion and Astroberta Sosa. There was a total of 14 children in the family.
In 1968 Luis left Mexico and settled in Colorado. There he had three children Peter Angel, Maricela and Bernice. In 1981 he relocated to Central Oregon where he settled and had three more children DeAnna, Corinne and Mia.
Luis had many jobs in the fields, in the mills and on the farms and ranches throughout Central Oregon. His one passion since a young boy was always working and raising horses. His sport of choice was always Team Roping where he excelled and won many buckles, saddles, trophies and checks. He was known to many as a horse whisperer.
Luis loved horses, cattle and his working dogs with a passion. He loved antiques and all things old. He loved to gamble and play the machines and was known as one lucky “son of gun”. He loved to spend time in his yard under the trees napping on a beautiful day. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren that he loved so much, telling stories about his youth and horses and the love was returned by each and everyone of them.
Luis leaves to mourn his children, grandchildren, eleven brothers and sisters, numerous nieces and nephews, numerous horses and working dogs. All who miss him immensely.
Luis was predeceased by his parents, one brother, two sisters and his daughter Mia Estrella. Luis will be missed and never forgotten. His knowledge and teaching of horses will live on in the hearts of everyone he touched. His kindness, his grit, his hard work ethic and his love for all living things and beings will never go unremembered.
