Donald William Wright, aged 91, passed away on February 8, 2023, at his home in Crooked River Ranch.
Don was born on October 14, 1931, in Joseph, Oregon, to Jackson and Gladys Wright. After his father passed, his mother moved the family to Milton Freewater, Oregon.
Don graduated from McGloughlin High School where he was an accomplished boxer. After high school, he joined the army and served in the Korean war, from which he was awarded four bronze stars and a purple heart.
After his military service, he returned to Oregon and married Doris Clark on January 16, 1954. The couple had four children: Donald (Rick), David, Debbie, and Doug.
Don had several jobs in various towns around Oregon, California, and Idaho before landing a career with the U.S. Forest Service as a Civil Engineer in Burns, Oregon. He was subsequently transferred to John Day, Oregon, where he retired at the age of 54. After retirement, Don and Doris moved back to Milton Freewater and later to Crooked River Ranch.
Don loved to hunt with his boys. He loved the outdoors. Don was a talented carpenter and a faithful servant who helped many over the years. He was a member of Ranch Chapel where he served as a trustee and an elder.
Don was preceded in death by his father, Jackson, mother, Gladys, and younger brother, Lester.
Don is survived by his wife, Doris, and his children; Rick (Linda), Dave (Suzanne), Debbie (Jeff) and Doug (Lisa), 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 3 great, great grandchildren.
Services will be held on February 21, 2023, at 11:00 am at Ranch Chapel, Crooked River Ranch with a military interment following at Terrebonne Pioneer Cemetery.
