Christopher Herrera
On April 5th, 2023, Chris left this earth far too soon at the young age of 35 years old in Redmond Oregon. Chris was born March 19th, 1988, in Bellingham Washington to Salvador and Sherry Herrera, making him their 6th child. When Chris was 5 years old, they moved to Central Oregon and that is where he grew up and lived for the majority of his life. He was a thumb-sucking curly red head, earning him the nickname “Strawberry,” that carried on with him into adult hood. In his younger years, Chris enjoyed being a goalie on the middle school soccer team, spending time with friends, and playing with his moms’ hair. At 18 Chris graduated from Grant High School in Portland Oregon, making him the first of his siblings to graduate high school. In 2006 just before Chris graduated, he met his love, Mayra. Together Chris and Mayra had two children, Christian (15) and Jazelle (14). Chris married Kim Crow in 2015 they divorced a few years later but remained friends.
During his time in prison, he earned the nickname “Canelo” and was a self-taught barber and became well sought out for his “Proper” cuts. His goal was to go to barber school and open his own mobile barber company. Chris made a name for himself and was well respected and loved amongst his peers. He enjoyed making everyone around him laugh by telling jokes and stories.
Chris is preceded in death by his father Salvador, his dad Manuel, his nephew Nicholas, uncle Billy, and all his grandparents. He leaves behind his two children Christian and Jazelle, his mom and stepfather Sherry and Rafael, eight siblings, and countless other relatives. His absence will never be replaced, and he will never be forgotten.
