Betty passed away peacefully in her home on August 18th with her husband of 26 years, Randy Vincent, by her side.
Betty was born in Salida, Colorado to Mabel and Rex Nelson. In 1956 she road the train from Colorado to Oregon with her mother and siblings. She attended school in Madras. After graduating from High School, she worked at the Dairy Queen for many years. She then worked at Safeway until her retirement. Betty married Randy Vincent on March 17th, 1997. She lived in Madras the rest of her life. Her hobbies were candle and soap making, and embroidery. She loved candles and her home was decorated with many of her candles and others. She also loved her plants and flowers. Betty enjoyed fishing, camping, and visiting with people. She traveled to Canada, Hawaii and Alaska, and went on many sister trips to Palm Springs.
Betty was dearly loved by her sisters, Barbara Lawrence, Becky Grunder, Sue Vanek (Bob), her brother Rex Nelson (Kendra), and step brother Mike Hodges (Kathleen).
Betty will be immensely missed by her sisters and brothers and all her nieces and nephews, Kari Jasa (Randy), Kassi Grunder (Karthik), Robbie Hodges (Jennie), Chris Grunder, Alexa Bryd (Damon), Bryan Vanek (Stephanie), Todd Vanek (Alison), Kelsey Vanek, Joe Vanek (Jordynn), Kayla Vincent, Levi Vincent, and Bryce Vincent (Taylor). More recently she was blessed with great nieces and nephews, Aaron Jasa, Savanna Jasa, Alex Hodges, Eli Hodges, Jase Parsons, Ryder Vanek, Josi Vanek, and Ty Vanek. All of these children were a great joy to her. Betty also has many Aunts and Uncles, and many cousins that loved her and will miss her.
A celebration of life will be held September 23, 2023 at The Metolius Friends Church at 11 am, a reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Madras Meals on Wheels, or Madras Partners in Care.
