Patricia (Patsie) Ann Barnes-Markwardt reached the end of her wonderful life on February 11, 2023, at the age 74. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Donn, daughter Krista (Kevin Darnell), granddaughter Sofi, daughter Jill Markwardt (Dan Johnston), grandson Branson, son Gregg (Kathryn Markwardt), and granddaughter Emersyn, as well as nine nieces and nephews.

Patsie was born in Corvallis, Ore. to Paul and Vera Barnes and graduated from Madras High School in 1966. After meeting Donn, together they built their family and home in Gladstone, Ore. Patsie, always active in her children’s lives, chose careers that made it so she could attend every field trip, sports game, and dance competition. She was a dedicated 10-year employee of the Gladstone School District as a bus driver and for the North Clackamas Aquatic Park in their administration department for 25 years. After many wonderful years of service, Patsie retired in 2018 to spend more time traveling the world, vacationing, playing games, and creating memories with her children, grandchildren, family, friends, and the love of her life, Donn Markwardt.

She will be remembered for her warm hugs, quirky gifts, and her legendary ability to recognize every holiday, birthday, and anniversary of everyone in her life. Patsie was strong in a gentle way and will be greatly missed
