Larry Lester Hulsey

Larry Lester Hulsey, age 81, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at his home surrounded by his wife and family. He was born March 17, 1938, in Bend, Oregon, to JK and Irma Hulsey. He grew up in Prineville.

He enlisted in the Navy in 1956, where he was on the USS Bon Homme Richard aircraft carrier. He was discharged in March of 1959.

He then made his way to Madras, where he was a cowboy for Richardson's Ranch. He moved on to working for Olson's Seed in 1965, after 36 years there, he moved on to the construction business and worked for Hooker Creek for 10 years before he finally retired.

He met his wife, Maxine, in January of 1963, and they married that same year in November. They had three boys, Kelly, Mike and Clark. He was then blessed with 12 grandkids and nine great-grandkids. He enjoyed anything outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing or just sitting outside with his two dogs, Joker and Buster, as well as spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He had a special bond with each and every one of them. Larry was full of life and touched many people throughout his life. He will be greatly missed by many.

Larry is survived by his wife, Maxine; sons and their wives, Kelly and Stephanie Hulsey, Clark and Jodi Hulsey and Mike Hulsey and Julie Van Dijk Bell; brother, Gary Hulsey; numerous nieces and nephews; 12 grandkids and nine great-grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, JK and Irma Hulsey; and one grandson, CJ.

Services will be Saturday, August 31, at 3 p.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Madras. A potluck will follow at the Hulsey home. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Diabetes Foundation.
