Obituary

Jackie “Jack” Ray Middleton, 82, died September 14th, 2019 at his home in Madras, Oregon. He was surrounded by many loved ones during his journey to heaven.

Jackie is survived by his wife, Marilyn Meritt Middleton; his children, Dennis and Vern Middleton, and Tammie Clark; his brother, Dee Middleton; his sisters, Louise Clarke, Lena Nisley and Rosemary Tittle. He was a proud Grandfather and Great-Grandfather to 10 Grandchildren and 17 Great-Grandchildren. He had numerous nieces and nephews and many close friends that were his family. He is preceded in death by his brothers Lee and Eddie Middleton; his parents, Ethmer “Ep” Middleton and Beddie Long; his grandson, Vernon Middleton; granddaughter, January Middleton; and great-grandson, Kaden Cox.

Jackie was born on March 4, 1937 in Mountain Grove Missouri to Ep and Beddie Middleton. Jackie knew a simple life in Missouri with his 3 brothers and 3 sisters. His family moved to Metolius, Oregon around 1950 where he graduated the 8th grade at Metolius Elementary. He married his beloved high school sweetheart, Marilyn on June 8, 1957. Jackie worked for PGE at Round Butte and then went on to the Warm Springs Mill where he retired from in 1989. Following his brother Eddie’s death in 1979 Jackie and Marilyn bought Middleton Septic Pump Service that his brother had owned. He worked the business while working at the mill. All who knew “Jack” knew how hard he worked. He worked his business proudly for 30 years before selling it to family in 2010 at the age of 73.

Jackie was a devoted father. He was loved and adored by many, most especially his grandchildren. He loved being around family and his closest friends. Jackie was a hunter and fisherman, he hunted yearly with his family and loved taking a break from work to fish at Shearer’s with son, Dennis. He was a member of the Madras Elks Lodge #2017 for 35 years. Jackie loved going anywhere with Marilyn in the motorhome, their favorite place to park it was Spirit Mountain Casino. Him and Marilyn never missed a Reno or camping trip with their Dupont family. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him.

A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at The First Baptist Church on “A” Street in Madras. Burial will be held Monday, September 23, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt Jefferson Cemetery in Madras.
