Obituary

Douglas Halstead, age 62, was stubborn until the end.  He thought he could beat anything, even a virus. He was born in Eugene, Oregon and grew up in the Canby area. He graduated from Clackamas High School where he was a star wrestler. He attended Clackamas Community College with an Associate's Degree in Marketing. He built Halstead Arboriculture Consultants and had no fear climbing the highest trees to prune or harvest pinecones till one day he hung up his spurs and moved on to the next phase of his life.

Douglas loved adventure and the rush of adrenalin. Whether it was speeding around the country on a motorcycle or rafting the wildest rapids. He had many stories of rafting through the Grand Canyon and other rivers in the Pacific Northwest. Douglas was an avid white-water rafter and was the face of Phantom products that he engineered for rafting. He was a Jack of all trades and Master of a few, his most renowned was Master Rigger on the raft trips he went on. He loved to tinker and was handy with almost any carpentry tool. He always had to have the best tools for the job and could fix just about anything.

Douglas was a loyal friend and would help almost anyone in need. He will be missed by many who loved him. He is survived by his partner Lavona Wolfersperger, a brother, Troy Halstead, and preceded in death by his parents Christina and David Halstead and his sister, Tamara Hodson.
