David Verl Courtain flew away to his heavenly home on Monday, September 9, 2019.

He was born in Portland, Oregon to Floyd and Lanora Courtain on June 3, 1960 and moved to Madras in 1964 where he was raised and attended all twelve years at the Madras schools. He graduated from Madras High school in 1978. When born, David joined one sister (Debbie) and was later joined by two brothers (Donald and Bruce). After high school, he spent a year at Northwest Christian College where he became a strong Oregon Ducks fan.   On July 15,1989 he married Sandra (Sandy) Williams and they were soon blessed with the addition of a son (Joshua) who became the light of their lives.

He and his family then moved to Ellendale North Dakota where he and Sandy attended Trinity Bible College.  They later moved back to Oregon, settling in Central Point where he learned to be a bookkeeper and accountant. He worked several years for Shilo Inns as a Night Auditor until finally moving to Coos Bay where he was self-employed as an accountant. While in Madras, Oregon and again in Ellendale North Dakota, he served as a volunteer with the local ambulance service.

David had a tender and compassionate heart for those in need and this motivated him to become involved through his church, in caring for and ministering to the needs of others.

He loved animals, his many friends and family. He loved to joke and bring a smile to another’s face. He had a strong faith in God and was eager to share his faith and love with everyone.

David leaves behind his loving wife and son, his parents and three siblings and many Aunts, Uncles and cousins, Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by both sets of Grandparents whom he knew and loved so well.
